On July 21 I took the long pelagic birding trip organized by Michael Brothers out of Ponce de Leon Inlet. We had some good pelagic birds but the variety was a little disappointing. We saw many Cory's Shearwaters, Sooty Terns and Wilson's Storm-Petrels and smaller numbers of Audubon's Shearwaters, Bridled Terns, and Band-rumped Storm Petrels. Everyone had good looks at all of these species. A few Black-capped Petrels were seen from a distance, but I'm not sure everyone got on them. We did not see any tropicbirds, jaegers, or sulids. One of the trip highlights was a pod of at least 15 Short-finned Pilot Whales which were loafing at the surface all around our boat.
