Birding Barnes from 8 AM to 9 AM in the morning was very productive. Warbler species were in the double digits and bird abundance was overall high. Searching for the Empidonax in the area where it was sighted proved futile because groundskeepers were busting out the weedwackers and lawnmowers...the nerve (just kidding). Never-the-less, the nature trail delivered the following of notable interest:
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Warblers:
Black-and-white
Worm-eating
Magnolia (1st winter female)
Prairie
Black-throated Blue
American Redstart
Northern Parula
Ovenbird
Northern Waterthrush
Chestnut-sided (1st winter female)
Blackburnian (adult female)
Vireos:
Red-eyed
Yellow-throated
Thrushes:
Swainson's
Hummingbirds:
Ruby-throated
Toes and Treys:
none
Cheers and keep an eye out...
Octoberfest is coming,
RJ
