Several terns now incubating eggs at the Lago Mar beach tern colony. Sea gulls are busy eliminating many of the eggs. There are now three distinct nesting areas all very visibly marked by Fish-game. There are also turtle nests in the same area. Interesting aspect. I have not seen least tern colony nesting since 1957 when they were all over what is now the Village of Sea Ranch Lake. At that time it was just bulldozed flat sandy area awaiting development. There were 100+ nests at the time. The birds subsequently moved to the roof of Publix and the flat gravel roofs of the Sea Ranch Shopping center. By 1965 they were gone.
