Sooty Terns on Biscayne Bay

This afternoon, I was able to convince my dad to take me to the beach to look for pelagic birds swept in by Rita. The beach had nothing but Laughing Gulls, but on the way back through Treasure Island, I saw a group of terns right offshore. We pulled into "The Crabhouse" parkinglot, raised up my binoculars, and all of a sudden I had 8 Sooty Terns feeding in a group just offshore. I was not able to find a Bridled or a Brown Noddy, unfortunately. Quite a few friagtebirds were flying around, as were Royal and Sandwich Terns.

Life is good, especially when you can get pelagic birds ten minutes from your front door.
