About as illegal as Petsmart selling it. It's okay though. Remember, our native apple snail is Pomacea paludosa, NOT Pomacea haustrum like this person specified. Other apple snails found in the pet trade are P. bridgesi and P. canaliculata, the last one becoming a major invasive problem in our canals and possibly our wetlands. The only illegality would be if you spot someone releasing any of these three exotics into out waters. Remember, P. paludosa is our NATIVE one.
