Thanks for your tip as I had not seen one in several years---but lucked out today! I was the only person at L. Pine Key during my time there. Despite the warning of high mosquitoe level at the entrance, I did not find them particularly bad. I put a few drops on of 99% deet and had no problem. I saw a gorgeous male Eastern Bluebird--- brillantly colored. He had been foraging low, then when he saw me flew to a Pine tree limb right in front of me. Pine Warblers were singing and the common birds of the area were heard/seen.A Downy and Red-bellied Woodpeckers as well as a beautiful male Towee were seen on my walk around the campsites. On Research road a group of A. Crows noisily approached my car and landed all around me in the trees. They called incessantly. Maybe they were hoping for a bag of chips. A few shores birds were seen around the research building where the landscape is reduced to mud/sand flats.Large puddles of water were scattered across this area.A few G. Yellowlegs and Killdeer were seen as well as a Snowy Egret and Little Blue Heron. A Pileated Woodpecker flew across Research Rd. on my way back. Robert is Here was my final stop as I could not resist their creamy milkshakes ---perfect for the hot summer weather.
