After spending off hours volunteering at A.R.M. Loxahatchee NWR I decided my own yard needed some work. When I went out I was soon aware of a nice little Black-throated Blue feeding in my bushes. So I went in for my binoculars instead. The male BTB was very bold. He flew directly in front of me twice. I guess he thinks it is his yard. There were two more female BTBs, one female Am redstart, one lone female painted bunting, one ovenbird and a beautiful male(and not so common in my yard) common yellowthoat. In a nearby pine, a White Winged Dove was dispaying, head down, tail up, repeatedly spreading his wings and tail to reveal all of the white.I also was graced with a good look at a fledged cardinal with his/her dad. What a lovely evening. The yard can wait.
