Toe, my son Joshua and I went to A.D. Barnes this morning at 7am. There was a
lot of activity at the South end of the hammock near the board walk. We saw B&W,
Parula, Prairie, BT Blue, Red Start, Yellow Throated, Ovenbird, a Water Thrush
and this Blue-winged Warbler. We also saw a Summer Tanager, Baltimore Oriole,
Red-Eyed Vireo, Eastern Wood Peewee, Tufted Titmouse, Great Crested Flycatcher,
and possibly a Least Flycatcher.
The Blue Wing was seen next to the entrance to the park. As you enter it was
found in the trees to left near the gate that leads to the board walk. The
photos of the Blue wing aren't that great, but they show the critical markings
for ID. We saw the bird about 7:30 am and the lighting was very poor limiting me
to using 800ISO, f 5.6 and 125th sec. Hand held shots using a 400mm lens usually
require at least 500th sec.
Later in the morning we caught up with the TAS walk at Matheson and walked
with them through Fairchild Gardens.
Here are a few photos from that portion of the walk.
I think that Paul said this was a Mangrove Buckeye
Hot Day, but my son Joshua and I had lots of fun.
