Yesterday I visited Peaceful Waters Sanctuary in Wellington. It was quite flooded in some areas and I was a bit scared being on the berm with the waters so high almost covering the grassy areas. Not a whole lot of unusual birds. However, I did spot 4 Cormorants in a distance. Didn't think much of it at first but I zoomed in to double check and was quite surprised to realize that something was different on one of them. Sure enough, I had a NEOTROPIC Cormorant with three others that looked like DC Cormorants (no white markings). I had seen one before at Wakodahatchee but this one had very clear markings indicating breeding plumage. Check it out.
Also I had a family of SANDHILL Cranes preening away. Mom, dad, & Juvenile - I'm estimating it at the age of 2 months old based on what other photographers had them in early April as newborns. It was a funny-looking creature that juvenile but I know it'll be gorgeous someday... There were a lot of Florida residents birds enjoying the shallow pools around the park by the soccer fields. I noticed too that the Fish Crows were going through some Burger King meal and they were pretty large in size...It made me wonder if the ones that tend to eat fast food tend to gain more weight and grow bigger like humans...
