Bill and I headed out today to hopefully begin the June Challenge on a high note. Although we didn't have any really unexpected birds, we got all our targets and managed a respectable 79 ABA species + 4 other exotics. We covered Tamiami Trail out to the count line, the C-357 sparrow fields, and the area from Cutler Wetlands to the quarry lake. We also picked up some birds along the way. The best highlight was probably getting 3 kite species for the day. We also got 2 White-rumped Sandpipers which is always a great find. Everything was seen and not just heard only.
