When you see Nancy Freedman, congratulate her for raising an impressive $750.50 in her birdathon this past weekend, winning herself a trip to the Dry Tortugas next year in the process.
If you didn't attend the picnic on Sunday, please send in your birdathon pledge forms and checks as soon as possible. As soon as we have a good idea of how many T-shirts we need to order we'll get them printed up. (The T-shirt will feature the White-tailed Kite design on the birdathon webpage -- see birdathon link above.)
$35 in pledges nets you a T-shirt and the warm glow of knowing you are supporting Tropical's conservation work in south Florida. With our new Executive Director, Cynthia Guerra, on board we will be represented at all critical meetings in south Florida that affect our environment. This includes fighting attempts to develop those birdy rural areas around Dade County.
As of the time of the picnic this past Sunday, the total raised by our first annual birdathon was hovering a bit over $2500 . Of course folks are still mailing in pledges -- maybe we'll break $3000 yet.
