Rangel, Mike, Jaden, and Ezeqiel joined me on a combined fishing/birding trip Friday afternoon till Saturday Morning. We headed out of Black Point and started off Pacific Reef Light. We picked up a handful of birds just off the reef that afternoon as we attempted to make some drops for snappers. We got several Audubon's Shearwaters, Wilson's Storm-Petrels, two Band-rumped Storm-Petrels, Bridled, Sooty Terns, and Common Terns, and some Brown Booby. We stayed fishing overnight, and in the morning encountered hundreds of Audubon's Shearwaters feeding on small baitfish being scared to the surface by schools of bonito and tuna. It was an impressive sight to see so many birds feeding like this out in open water.

Our list:

Audubon's Shearwater - 400+
Wilson's Storm-Petrel - 14
Band-bumped Storm-Petrel - 2
Brown Booby - 32
Magnificent Frigatebird - 5
Red-necked Phalarope - 1
Common Tern - 8
Sooty Tern - 60
Bridled Tern - 12
