Trey arrived before we did and had already heard and recorded audio of the Antillean Nighthawk. We arrived at about 8p.m. and heard the bird calling from the north side of 9336. We then drove to the south side of 9336 and 217Ave. where Trey was parked, we heard the bird here on and off for about the next hour or so. We were able to record the call as the nighthawk flew quite close to us several times. Only one thing was missing at this point, Rangel! He and his crew finally arrived and after waiting fifteen minutes or so the Antillean Nighthawk began calling close to us and Rangel was able to make a recording of the bird on his phone as well. After Rangel, Mike and Jared left Trey stayed with us for a bit longer and we heard the bird again, but this time we had calls coming from the east side of 217ave. and the west side. It sounded as if there are possibly two Antillean Nighthawks at this location!

We celebrated at a pizzeria and reminisced about our life Antillean Nighthawk in Marathon years back. While waiting on our pizza we received an email from Richard West (FL BBA) that he heard an Antillean Nighthawk at about 6 a.m. 5/19, west of Country Walk; we included a link below to a map of the location where Rick heard the bird. If this bird sticks around it would be much closer to many birders than driving down to SR9336.
