Everglades Snail Kite Demise

There is an article in today's Naples Daily News about the plight of the Everglades Snail Kite due to large releases of water from Lake Okeechobee by the US Army Corps of Engineers. These releases over the last several years have impacted on the apple snails, the primary food source of the snail kite. Everglades Snail Kite numbers have plummeted by 50 percent from 3,577 birds to 1,610 in four years according to the article. The National Wildlife Federation has brought suit against the Corps for mismanagement of these water releases. You can read the article at this link below.
