On Saturday, about noon, as the winds from Hurricane Dennis were still about 50 mph at our house (just north of Sombrero Key Light) I spotted six dark birds, clinging to our rocky seawall. They were hunched down, and appeared disoriented and tired. At first I thought they were grackles, which seemed awfully strange, but as I forced myself into the wind to get closer, I saw the whitish caps, long narrow dark bills, and the wedge-shaped tails. It was difficult to hold the camera in the wind, there was a lot of moisture in the air, and as I tried to get close they became nervous and a few took off. So I backed away. This is the best photo I could get. They were gone a few hours later.
