I've had many photo ops of CONW, before I had a camera. Ever since, each time I've seen one there's been a jogger, or bike rider, or a branch, or something that's kept me from getting a phto. Considering they only come through for 1 week in May, and this is only my 3rd spring with a camera, my photo ops have been very limited.

I've spent the last couple of days trying to get a photo, with the last one I saw being spooked by (wait for it) two joggers at Bill Baggs! Last year it was two peole riding bikes in the nature trail at Barnes (arrggghhh!). After seeing Angel's report on birds flying in yesterday, I decided to try Baggs again after work. Upon arriving I checked the bike trail, then the nature trail, then the bike trail again. Hey, how about the nature trail again! Back and forth I went, picking up several expected species, including Common Yellowthroats, bikers, joggers, dog walkers, people pulling carts full of fishing equipment, park trucks, and people just walking and talking really, really loud. I was about to get back in the car when I decided to pish along the edge of the parking lot. I didn't pish up a CONW, but I got something better - Audrey Whitlock! As we talked about Connecticuts being seen, she gets a call from Victor who had one at the Boy Scout Camp at that moment. I ran over there and sure enough there's a CONW right in the open next to one of the wooded platforms. It was in the shade, and the late afternoon light was fading fast, but the picture is OK for ID. Thanks Audrey and Victor for hooking me up with a photo op. I was expecting a biker or leaf blower or something any second as I nervously took the photo.
