Here are the winners for Tropical Audubon Society's 2013 Birdathon:
Most money raised ($1,490.00): Dolora Batchelor - wins one free space on the 2014 TAS Keys and Dry Tortugas tour
Most birds seen in one 24 hour period (120) -MASSDUCKS (John Hutchison, Russ Titus, Steve and Rachel Svec) - win one free space on the 2014 TAS North Florida tour
Congratulations to all the winners and all who participated for continuing to support TAS! A total of $4,426.00 was raised during this year's Birdathon. $1,525.00 in donations were earmarked for the Dry Tortugas bird fountain project. Our target for installation of the new bird fountain at Ft Jefferson is this fall.
While many people generously donated to this year's Birdathon, the number of participating birders actually counting birds continues to be low. Any suggestions as to how to increase the participation of birders in this annual event would be most welcome.
