Spent about thirty minutes at the Black Point Marina and had great looks at a Mangrove Cuckoo. Saw it on the path along the channel from the marina. Great life bird looks for both me and my brother Jerry who is out for a week of Florida birding, having never been in Florida.
Directions: From Rt 1, 248th St east to Black Point Marina. When the road ends at the parking lot, turn left (which is SW 87th Ave.)and continue over the small bridge. Across the bridge, turn right and park in this lot on the right. There are many spaces so maybe move in a bit. Mangrove Cuckoo has been reported in the parking lot so keep and eye out. There is a paved path along the channel. The pavement ends at the sign indicating the beginning of Key Biscayne National Park. We saw the bird about 250 yards past this sign, foraging in the trees on both sides of the path. It called twice.
Happy birding
