A flock of around 5 to 11 (estimated) feral Black-hooded Parakeets has been in the vincity of my neighborhood for at least 6 to 7 years. They travel around the neighborhood, flying. They are apparently escapees or releases because they have bands on their legs. They regularly feed at a neighbor's bird feeder and at other feeders. I have not located their nest(s) but belive they are breeding because they have been and still are persisting in stable numbers. However, the FWC's Critter Questions Exotic Database does not list this species as breeding in Palm Beach County. I am very interested in their breeding possibility here as feral birds. Has anyone else in the Boca Raton/Delray Beach area or anywhere else in Palm Beach County seen these parakeets? If so, for how long have they been in your area or neighborhood?
