Went to Green Cay...and it was amazing to see so many Roseate Spoonbills (male, female, & several juveniles). I would guestimate at about mid-thirties in numbers...maybe 40's with all the juveniles out of the nest...
Spotted a female Cape May and a female Scarlet Tanager
Shore birds remain except Wilson's Snipe (at least I didn't see any) - Yellowlegs, Solitary and Least Sandpipers, Least Bittern ( a few coming out of the reeds to feed.
Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge:
Male and female Black-throated Blue Warblers (nice looking female)
A pair of Great Crested Flycatchers are flying around and I suspect that they are nesting somewhere near (spring fever).
American Redstarts are seeing in a few areas and Blackpoll male and female were seeing near the boardwalk area
Rick Schofield mentioned and posted a few days ago a sighting of an Eastern Screech Owl in one of the utility poles and I found it in the same location (Red-morph variety)
Several Pileated flying around Lee Rd area
Drove to Lake Okeechobee area & southern Martin County into Corbett Wildlife Management today and had:
White-eyed Vireo ( a few calling)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher ( a couple)
Eastern Towhee (heard a couple calling)
Eastern Meadowlark ( a few singing)
Common Nighthawk in flight (against the light it didn't turn out that good)
A Young Bald Eagle
Swallow tailed Kites 4 of them
A few Red-shouldered Hawks
One Northern Flicker
Saw NO Eastern Bluebird, No Red-headed Woodpecker, and NO Red-Cockaded Woodpecker...that'll will be a treat at another opportunity ( I have seen them & photographed them before) around Corbett Wildlife Management area.
On the way home, drove by some AG fields off CR880 (Sam Semter, Six-mile Bend) and the common blackbirds were all over ( Boat-tailed, Red-winged, Euro Starlings, don't think I saw any Cowbirds).
There were NO Swallows in sight like the ones already reported from Miami-Dade (they are en route i guess).
2 dozen or so Black-bellied Plovers (one kept a certain distance...that's when i reached for the binoculars and as far as I know I got an Upland Sandpiper - adult. I did read my books and the books match what I saw and photographed.
B&W Stilts and Some Least Sandpipers were also present.
There were many other birds but nothing on the rare realm.
