FOS/Breeding Bird Atlas Weekend - LaBelle FL, Friday, May 31 - Sunday June2, 2013. We need help in Hendry and Glades counties as well as Charlotte Okeechobee, and Lee counties for the Breeding Bird Atlas. We are going to gather at the Port LaBelle Inn on SR 80 for a weekend of "blockbusting". You can participate one, two, or all three days. We invite anyone who wishes to have a blast birding for a reason to join us - no fees, no banquets, just a good time. If you have never done any atlasing and wish to join an experienced group to learn first hand, please come! The room rate at the Inn is about $69 a night single or double, including continental breakfast. You can join us for one two or three days - doesn't matter. Ask for Anita and for the birding rate. There are also slightly cheaper rooms in LaBelle about two miles away, but Port LaBelle is a very nice facility which is used for the "Big O" Birding Festival with a nice continental breakfast. For county listers, the photo shows you that the Hendry/Glades county line runs right through the parking lot! We had Snail Kites on the pond behind the hotel at the festival! We will pair inexperienced atlasers with an experienced team so you can learn how to do it! If you can come, email me at dave.goodwin@aol.com and let me know which days you can attend.
