I had a busy day today driving around but i think it paid off.
Went to Daggerwing Nature center in Boca and did not see any of the flycatchers that were there some days ago (leave you with a shot of a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher as a consolation prize). Not much going on there.
From there I went to Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge and had the following"
Dozens of Cedar Waxwings (3 views in photo)
A pair of Great Crested Flycatcher calling and flying around
Several Pileated Woodpeckers
American Redstart ( some males)
N. Parulas (many)
Some Cape May Warblers
Lots of Gray Catbirds feasting on Ficus trees
Not much more...kind of quiet otherwise
From there I went to Spanish River:
Best choice of the day...hands down!
Had 1 male Blackpoll Warbler
2 Black-whiskered Vireos (can't tell apart)
2 American Redstarts
1 Northern Waterthrush
1 Yellow-Crowned Night Heron
Lots of Cardinals
A few Prairie Warblers
1 Black-throated Blue Warbler (male)
4 Black-and-White Warblers ( M&F)
2 Ovenbirds
Some Painted Buntings (M&F)
Across the street there were some at the beach there were some Least Tern flying around.
I think I have covered it all.
Until next time,
Marcello
