Something I've been wondering about for a few years. When the first reintroduced birds started migrating through back in the 70's and through the 80's they were almost all pure looking f.p. tundrius. I have a some photos I took in the late 80's over the lighthouse on Key Biscayne of the first f.p. anatum that I ever saw, I believe in 1989. It was very different, very black, very buff, totally different than the tundrius I was used to seeing. It occurred to me looking at Gary's picture that most of the birds I have seen in last decade or so, while "anatum-ish", are not Gary's bird is very typical nearly as distinct as they used to be, and I have not seen a tundrius in that same span. Are they still distinct subspecies, or have most of them become intergrades?
