According to my DeLorme Atlas, that's not entirely accurate. The easternmost 2.5 miles or so of Loop Road are in Miami-Dade. The westernmost 3 miles or so are in Collier. The rest of Loop Road, including the Environmental Center, are in Monroe.
Wild Turkeys are possible in Miami-Dade along Levee 28, which begins at Fortymile Bend on Tamiami Trail, opposite the eastern entrance to Loop Road, and runs north along the eastern border of Big Cypress. I know this from personal experience. Those darn turkeys nearly killed me!
