I've not looked at the BirdBoard for quite a while, so just noticed the reports of Flamingos in Miramar. A pair of famingos have taken up residence, for many months now, in the large lake of the Aventura Country Club. They are visible from Country Club Drive (from Biscayne Blvd/ US1 - Aventura Blvd to Country Club Drive. Turn left. Start looking after passing the 34th Street traffic light. They were there at twilight on the 4th of July and took flight circling the lake as the fireworks began, but as far as I know, are still there.
The BREEDING BIRD ATLAS does not record any black swans in South Florida, but we may need to keep an eye on the Country Club Drive colony that is sharing the lake and creek along the pedestrian park in the same general area. There must be nearly a dozen of them now.
