I made a sort of TAS follow-up trip today to recently visited sites. Green Cay was less birdy than the report from yesterday, but sure had a lot of people on the boardwalk. A visit to Johnathan Dickinson State Park found that the Bachman's Sparrows were singing in full tune, unlike our previous visit. The Red-headed Woodpeckers near the pavilion were down to one bird, but he was very vocal and photogenic. Swallow-tailed kites, the main target of this trip were a big zero, even at River Bend Park, where they are supposed to nest. In consolation, a crazy Wood Stork, high in the air, performed a very rapid falling spiral, rolling like a black and white version of a Blue Angel. A beautiful display for such an ungainly bird.
