I decided to do a round two while i had time this week. I only spent four hours and I spotted 54 different species at Everglades National Park:
Roseate Spoonbills and Wood Storks have been nesting at Paurotis Pond. Looks like the Wood Storks are in the process of making their nest (saw one flying with a stick) and the Roseate Spoonbills have immatures near their nesting sites (they look to be about six weeks or so in my estimation.
From Paurotis i drove to Echo Pond. Not a whole lot...
Pair of Osprey nesting
About 40 Black-necked Stilts
1 Lesser Yellowlegs
Several buntings - 9/10 were females
Prairie Warblers -2
Immature Red-shouldered
Lots of Gray Catbirds
1 Black and White Warbler - male
A few Northern Cardinals (m&f)
Heard a call from a Great Crested Flycatcher (later photographed on the Flamingo Lot)
From Echo Pond to Camping area by Florida Bay:
Dozens of Willet
3 Black Skimmers
A few Marbled Godwits mixed in with Willet
Black-bellied Plover (winter plumage) - a few
Another Osprey nesting...
From Camping area to Flamingo Lot/ Boat dock:
Hundreds of Laughing gulls
Spotted and shot the Great Crested Flycatcher ( no other similar species seen or heard)
Shiny Cowbirds - 4 males - couldn't tell their females from Brown-headed Cowbird
Brown-headed Cowbirds ( 24) - within the flock Shiny Cowbirds were present by the grassy area near boat dock
Palm Warblers - lots...
1 American Coot
1 Brown Pelican
American Crows - some (but as you know one could count between 30-50 from Flamingo back to the entrance).
On the way out of the park...dusk not much more
2 Swallow-tailed Kites flying about 5 miles east of Flamingo Park
Saw a few Eastern Meadowlarks near the road
Lots of Mockingbirds
Some more Northern Cardinals flying across the road
Otherwise, a light breeze kept all the nasty annoying mosquitoes away - yeah!
Let me know if you have any specific questions.
p.s on an unrelated note... The day before I went to Green Cay Wetlands and finally spotted the famous Yellow-breasted Chat (see photo) with some type of green berry if anyone knows what it is I could label it with an appropriate name. Have some shots of recent shorebirds at Green Cay Wetland if you're interested.
