I spent the morning at the sod farms to the north in Palm Beach County. There
was a lot of activity in the fields that stirred up the birds. Just as I would
locate shore birds along a canal or in a field, crop dusters or a farmers on
their tractors would come by.
But even with that, I picked up a life bird and got photos of several species
that I have seen but didn't have a photo.
Today's List:
Wood Storks (2 flocks of about 3 dozen each)
All the normal egrets and herons.
Thousands of Red-winged Blackbirds
Osprey (4)
Red Shoulder Hawk
Common Ground Dove (dozens)
Mottled Ducks
Hundreds of White Ibis
Limpkin (2)
Black Necked Stilts (100s)
Killdeer (100s)
Spotted Sandpiper (2)
Lesser Yellow Legs
Greater Yellow Legs (2)
Semipalmated Sandpiper (6)
Least Sandpiper (dozens)
Solitary Sandpiper (solitary) Life Bird
Brown-headed Cowbird (3)
Hundreds of Grackles
Heard one of the Anis that Toe and Rock spotted the other day.
Now I am going to try to post photos in a new way...
The photos aren't that great because of the distance from the subjects.
Had a great time and can't wait to go again when the migrants are really
moving through.
