This morning, I birded at Matheson Hammock Park, where I found the wintering Red-headed Woodpeckers in the tree adjacent to the state trooper's house. Also seen in the area were Orange-winged Parrot, Red-masked Parakeet, Hill Myna and my first-of-season Eastern Kingbird. I then headed down to the residence in Florida City where a Lazuli Bunting was photographed yesterday. Roxanne and Jeanette were just leaving when I arrived at 11:00am; Angel and Mariel were still present. All had seen the Lazuli earlier in the morning. Lots of Indigo and Painted Buntings came in to the feeders during the two hours I waited, but not the Lazuli. By 1:00pm, the yard became very quiet, with no buntings coming to the feeders. If the Lazuli sticks around, it seems that mid-morning may be the best time to visit.
