Thanks, Bill, for your interest in my Loxahatchee reports.

There are a couple of reasons for my lack of posting...

First-off, since I've been appointed leader this season, I've found it difficult to both organize/lead the large group of attendees, take confirmatory photos of our sightings, and write the summaries that I've done in the past.

Secondly, the lack of diversity this season has impacted what I could say -- i.e., I didn't want to simply write the same thing every week. I realize that our experience at Loxahatchee is not unlike what other locations are dealing with. Hopefully the spring migration will change this for us all (you know -- Cedar Waxwings attacking, killing, and eating all the northward warblers) so I can again continue with reports that don't simple repeat the previous week's report.

We have been monitoring the Great Horned Owls and their two owlets. We've had one Swallow-tailed Kite (pretty early, this season). And we've had regular visits by Short-tailed Hawks -- both Light Morph and Dark Morph -- which I should have reported here (though I did report them on eBird). I will try to get back on-track with weekly reports.

Thanks for pushing me back into what I should have been doing for the past month or so.

Rick
