This morning Toe, his friend Brian from Gainesville and I hit Black Point Jetty. It was pretty quiet on our way out to the end but things picked up quickly.

Toe spotted a mature Bald Eagle in flying north to south along the coast. There were several Ruddy Turnstones on the rocks out a little further than we were standing.

We stayed about an hour and saw a few things.

Yellow Crowned Night Heron
Bald Eagle
Ruddy Turnstones (3)
Least Tern (6-10)
Royal Tern (2)
Brown Pelican (10-12)
Cormorants (12+)
Least Sandpiper
Killdeer (6)
Little Blue Heron
Ibis (12+)
Magnificent Frigate bird
Shrike
Boat tailed Grackle
Spotted Sandpiper (life bird for me)
Laughing Gull

We were headed back in when Toe saw the Spotted Sandpiper on the rocks midway back up the jetty.

We parted company at the parking lot and I drove around Mt. Trashmore and found 5 Semipalmated Sandpipers in one of the open fields that had some ponding.

Had a good time and picked up a lifer. It also looks like migrants are beginning to show.

Trey
