Hint of Migration

Spent a couple hours on the Homestead-ENP circuit this morning. The 217 Ave. fields had only Killdeer and Black-necked Stilts, but a puddle 100 yards north of Lucky Hammock had one each Solitary and Least Sandpiper and Lesser Yellowlegs. I stopped at the canal just outside the park (L31W) and heard a Bobwhite. I tracked the call and found 7 just on the east bank of the canal along the shrubs. Best look at wild Bobwhites I've had yet. There were several small flocks of Barn Swallows throughout. That's about it except for Eastern Kingbird, Bluebird, Plenty of White-eyed Vireos, and 5 Swallowtail Kites outside Royal Palm. I called it quits at 9:30 after some nice morning birding. Time to get back on migration mode folks.
