Sorry this is off topic, but since the board is really slow right now, and I am very excited about all the cool birds I've seen, I am going to post my first day in Great Britain. Arriving in the morning to London and catching the train to southwest Britain, I saw hundreds of Common Swifts, ponds full of Eurasian Coots and Little Grebes, as well as five corvid species (Rook, Carrion Crow, Eurasian Jackdaw, Eurasian Jay, European (formerly Black-billed) Magpie), House Martins, Grey Herons, and the too common Wood Pigeon. Arriving at Exeter, I was surprised to see four gull species (Herring, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Black-headed Gull, and Common Gull), Great Cormorant, Mute Swans, and the first of many Greenfinches.
At my aunts home in rural southwest Devon, I found such species as Green Woodpecker, Eurasian Hobby, Winter Wren, Dunnock, Blackcap, and two species of wagtails. I found over 40 species today, and had exactly 30 lifers. My trip is a country wide thing, so a trip list of at least a hundred is looking up.
