Snow Buntings would more likely be on the ground, scratching at the surface for seeds and food tidbits instead of in a tree. They have elongated claws like their closest relatives the longspurs that are useful for digging. They are very shorebird-like in behavior, and lost individuals that have shown up in Florida have usually (only?) shown up on sandy or open terrain where they can feed.
