Not sure when the last sightings of these guys were - I couldn't find any references later than 1999 - but there are still two hanging out in the "retention areas" managed by SFWMD somewhere west or northwest of the Homestead Airport. This area is not accessible to the public, but some hydrologists from Everglades NP who regularly work in there have been seeing one or sometimes two since early May. Would these be the same birds that escaped from the Miami Zoo during Andrew?
