'Dark Morph' Yellow Crowned Night Heron

Has anyone seen a very dark YCNH? I've seen one the last two mornings here in Jacksonville that is almost jet black, except for the markings on the head. The bird appears to be an adult, and I observed another YCNH within a half mile on the same road, which appeared 'normal' in coloration. I haven't been able to find anything on a 'dark morph' in my field guides or on the web.

Any insight is much appreciated.
