This may be old news by now, but just in case it is not, I want to pass on some information that may be useful.
It is possible to get around the fence on the east side of Aerojet Rd. By going south to where the fence ends (park on the west side of the rd.) going in past the gate, and walking back north. The No Trespassing signs are apparently meant to keep out troublesome types like ATVers, but "FWC is unlikely to care about birders." Who knows, wardens might even welcome other pairs of eyes.
Also, biking down the C111 allows access to the area from the east; I guess some of the C111 posts are about this. I personally have not been to LH or the canal since the fence went up, but now it will feel a lot less compromised.
