I took the opportunity today to check out the wetlands, Parks and Wildlife refuges in Palm Beach County.
I wanted to get photos of the Black Bellied Whistling Ducks and was hopeful to see Limpkin. I was unsuccessful with the Black Bellied Whistling Ducks, but saw 2 Limpkin.
It was a very enjoyable morning. (except for the heat and humidity) There were many young birds at both Green Cay & Wakodahatchee. All the herons, egrets and alike where young with perfect plumage. Also lots of baby Moore Hens, Gallinules and Coots. There was a nest with 2 new Great Blue herons. There were only a few Least Terns at both wetland areas. I saw one Least Bittern fly by but was unable to photograph the bird.
I also decided to check out Loxahatchee WLR and Okeeheelee Park. Not much there today, but see the potential during migration.
I had a happy 4th.
Thanks to all of you veterans for your service.
Trey
