I have been visiting Morningside Park a lot recently visiting friends the last couple days. Birding can still be more "exciting" there than in Miami Shores. The Cooper's Hawk pair managed to fledge another Coop for the third year in a row. They can be seen around the small mangrove swamp. Prairie Warblers are singing at the swamp, and Yellow-crowned Night-herons are still there in good numbers. I was surprised to see a Snowy Egret there, as well as Gray Kingbird, two birds I rarely see at the park. Spot-breasted Orioles and White-eyed Parakeets were aslo seen.
In Miami Shores, the Burrowing Owls are still across the street from Barry University, Spot-breasted Orioles are hanging out around N.E. 92 street and N.E. 5 Avenue.
On Miami Beach, I was surprised to see three Common Nighthawks calling and chasing eachother over the busy Lincoln Road Mall.
