While returning froma Florida Native Plant Society field trip, I spotted an odd looking silouhette on hte powerline alongside the Overseas Highway. A quick u-turn produced confirmation that it was an adult Common Mynah (pg. 358, Natl. Geo. Soc.'s field guide). The bird was preening in front of the Coral Isles Church, near mile marker 90, just a few yards south of Florida Keys Electric Cooperatives's power pole #532 at 4PM Saturday. First I have seen south of Florida City.

And, if you are interested and happen to be birding in the upper Keys, the Smooth-billed Ani is still hanging around north Key Largo's county road 905 at FKEC pole #228 (as of 4/18/02). Northbound songbird migrants remain very spotty.
