A.D. Barnes had few migrants but some interesting birds nonetheless. American Redstart (Male & Female), Black-throated Blue (Male) and Magnolia Warblers (Male)were seen. A Swallow-tailed Kite is in the area, but no sign of nest-building where a pair nested last year. Heard a pair of Screech Owls serenading each other. Found one of the owls (gray phase), when he/she was being mobbed by three Blue Jays. Also found a Brown Thrasher nest in a Strangler Fig (Ficus aurea) out in the parking lot between the ballfield and the yellow buildings.Life is good........ especially when the local breeding birds make up for a slow spring migration. Almost forgot, have had a male and female Painted Bunting in the feeder the past week.
