Had a small window today so I went out to look for a Bird-A-Day bird. I stopped at a wetland behind the now abandoned Baypoint School on 224 St. and 87 Ave and found a Solitary Sandpiper along with some Yellowlegs, Dowitchers, Least Sandpipers and Killdeer. I haven't seen or heard of any Solitary Sandpipers this winter, so I wonder if this is not an early migrant. Solitaries are pretty early migrants, showing up in our area in July during Fall migration. I'm not sure how often they winter here.

BTW, I ended up using Wilson's Snipe seen at Cutler Wetlands for my bird-a-day.
