Green Cay yesterday had these two slightly more rare birds, among the 'regulars'. The shoveler was a lone female - never spotted a male accompany...she was hanging out in the east side near where the pond trail meets the main trail.

The Virginia rail was along the north stretch, right where the boardwalk makes a zig-zag - initially it was calling and there were dozens of sora...then it came briefly out in the open before a sora chased it back into the reeds.

Sora are in the dozens there now, coopers hawk, red-shouldered, and northern harrier all still frequenting the area, lots of palm and yellow rumped warblers and eastern phoebe but not too many others spotted in the early afternoon. La Sagra's was calling farther back in the trees by the parking lot in the usual spot, but never came close enough to see that afternoon.
