On Monday, February 4th at around 4pm a call came in to the Wild Bird Center in Tavernier that a penguin was swimming in the boat basin behind Sundowners Restarurant in Key Largo. I got down there within 20 minutes and was thrilled to find what I was hoping for, a single razorbill which was actively foraging on silversides right alongside the docks and seawalls. The bird was literally feeding right under my feet. It was an impressive sight. On a number of occassions the bird breached as it chased schools of silversides to the surface. I watched the bird for about a half hour as it swam back and forth along the seawalls and docks behind the Sundowners and Big Chill restaurants, located at mm 104 on Blackwater Sound, Key Largo.
