Sorry for the late and untidy post, but thought others would be interested in sightings I had this past weekend while showing people around --

Dante Fascell Park:

A nice quick stop, with 8 species of warblers together in the only feeding flock at this small park, including a very nice Black-throated Green Warbler.

Crandon Gardens on Key Biscayne:

A Purple Gallinule continues at the first pond as one enters into Crandon Gardens, the one most heavily lined with reeds with a small fountain.

Lucky Hammock/the Annex:

Brown-crested Flycatcher #1 at Lucky Hammock proper, which is cooperative and allows good views early in the morning. It was calling very actively ("whit") on both Saturday and Sunday. Brown-crested Flycatcher #2 was calling 20 feet south of the derelict fishing platform in the Annex, but remained unseen. Ash-throated Flycatcher was seen well feeding in an almost bare gumbo limbo tree right by the entrance to Aerojet Road. Both Western and Tropical Kingbirds were observed feeding here on Sunday, apparently wandering more widely since they were first discovered. Vermilion Flycatcher (both male and female) continue at the pump station just to the east. Other interesting sightings included Indigo Bunting molting into breeding plumage, continuing Sedge Wrens in the grassy fields west of Lucky Hammock, flyover American Robins, and American White Pelicans flying out of the new spreader canal.

Everglades NP -- Anhinga Trail:

Anhinga Trail is fantastic right now at both dawn and dusk, with very large numbers of waders (herons, egrets, ibis) commuting overhead, along with a flock of over a thousand Red-winged Blackbirds. Other birds of note include a pair of Barred Owls, Limpkin, Pileated Woodpecker, and American Goldfinch. It's really great to hear and watch the wetlands wake up at dawn.

Mrazek Pond:

Only ducks at the pond right now are Blue-winged and Green-winged Teal, and a couple of Northern Shoveler.

Flamingo area:

Two 'Cuban' Yellow Warblers seen on the east end of the Guy Bradley Trail (also seen back in November of 2012) -- always great to see. Also, a bonus Peregrine Falcon overhead.
