Morningside Park Orioles

Lately I have been wondering if it would be worth mentioning the populations of Spot-breasted Orioles in Morningside Park, just north of downtown Miami. Some of you may know I lived there almost 10 years until I moved to Biscayne Park last year. Well, reason I mention this is because Spot-breasted Orioles are very easy there. I never have trouble seeing them in the small neighborhood, even when I'm not looking. Morningside Park is a small neighborhood just off Biscayne Boulevard between NE 50 and 60 streets. There are two entrances right off Biscayne Boulevard. The park itself is not very good for the orioles, but almost every yard in Morningside has potential for a couple sightings. I have noticed that orioles can be very easy around the intersection of NE 51 and 52 Street and NE 5th Avenue. Morning is best, but I saw one while driving past the intersections given above. Just cruise around with windows down, and you should get the birds fairly easy. I shouldn't park your car at the park anywhere, but perhaps parking your car near the guard gate at the intersection of NE 50 Terrace and Biscayne Boulevard would be good. Remember, always lock your cars and cover valuables when in Miami, and Morningside is no exception. The park is very crowded in the afternoons, and that is yet another reason to not leave your car along the edge of the park.
