Red Shoulder Hawk along with finches, warblers, and humming birds can be sighted at South Miami Park AKA the old Southwest YMCA 4300 S. W. 58 Avenue.
Walk around the entire park pay close attention to the Tree line on all sides and the Fenced in Area around the Closed Pool. Also look to the lone Huge Australian Pine. City of South Miami is a bird sanctuary but try telling that to all the inhabitants after what the YMCA of Greater Miami, City of South Miami, University of Miami, and Miami Dade County expansion plans that decimated the wooded area of this property displacing owls, foxes, birds, possums, raccoons, snakes, parrots. There was a City of South Miami The Northside Charrette page-10, held concerning the redevelopment of the southwest YMCA property but this was disregarded in favor of the Soccer DADS whom are Lawyers that try to make open green spaces into Sports Complex ie "soccer complex". http://www.southmiamifl.gov/clientuploads/PDFs_Planning/Planning_NSCharrette2000_Report.pdf
