Today Joan Renninger and I enjoyed South Dade and ENP flycatchers and kingbirds. The male and female Vermilion Flycatchers were at the C-111 Canal pump station; the Ash-throated Flycatcher was at the intersection of Aerojet Road and 9336; the Brown-crested Flycatcher was at Lucky Hammock and there were 3 Least Flycatchers in the area. Least Flycatcher #1 was across from the hammock, #2 was ~100 yards south of the Annex gate and #3 was ~30 yards farther south from #2. All called with their distinct sharp "whit" vocalization. Early in the morning, a Tropical Kingbird was hanging out with 2 Western Kingbirds on the west side of Aerojet Road, near 9336.

Another Brown-crested Flycatcher was in Mahogany Hammock, ~20 yards past the boardwalk entrance. Missing Brown-crested's today: the Hidden Lake bird and a bird usually seen at the first fishing platform in the Annex.

The Lucky Hammock Bell's Vireo put in a brief appearance around 7:30 AM.
