Patience paid off this morning for viewing the Western Spindalis. She was briefly seen and heard from 8:30-8:40, then flyovers and heard only, a couple of times. Around 9:30 Jeff Pavlik spotted her deep within vegetation and Joan Renninger(PA), Dave and Jeff Pavlik (MI) and Mike and Lee Danzenbaker (CA) had great looks. Jack and Jeannette had brief looks and heard the bird at 8:30 but they had to leave.

Walk west along the main bike path that parallels the sewage plant, until the end. Listen and look in this area, as the bird came in from the NE. She worked the area north of the rubble pile and was found within the ficus-type fruiting tree. She was picking at a dried Possum Grape Vine toward the top of the tree.

Three Cuban Crescent Butterflies were seen near the entrance of the bike trails. I saw one in early December and found a large patch of their larval host plant (Crimson dicliptera) along the east edge of the parking area.
