Today at the Snook Islands Natural Area in Lake Worth there is a Great Blue Heron with fishing line wrapped around it's beak. The line appears to have a hook on the end which appears to be hooked into the back of the heron's neck. The heron can not open it's mouth.
The Snook Islands Natural Area is on the east side of the Intracoastal and just north of the Lake Avenue Bridge. There is a nature boardwalk with a mangrove island and large rocks along side and the heron is hanging out there. It can fly but will probably weaken due to not being able to feed.If someone knows how to rescue this heron please try.
